The Notariat am Gänsemarkt was established in 1947 by Walther Kukuck. Soon after its establishment Hans Werner Schacht joined the firm as a partner. Dr. Hans Ernst Duve became a partner in 1964. From 1975 to 1986 he was the President of the Hamburg Chamber of Notaries. As further partners followed in 1976 Dr. Bernhard von Schweinitz, in 1981 Dr. Detlef Thomsen, in 1988 Dr. Jürgen Bredthauer, in 1994 Dr. Andre Vollbrecht, in 1977 Dr. Michael Commichau, in 2000 Dr. Martin Mulert and in 2008 Dr. Wolfram Radke.
  
 
The fact that the number of notaries has doubled in only a few years is a testament to a dynamic growth and the constantly increasing demand for notarial services. Approx. 80 members of staff assist the notaries at Gänsemarkt. The air-conditioned offices are situated in the centre of Hamburg on the 4th and 5th floor of the building at “Gänsemarkt 50”( above the Gänsemarkt-Passage) and can also be reached by elevator. A conference room is available for recordings with a large number of participants.
